My Munch is Back

Whew! What a month. 4 Wisdom teeth removed. One of the worst hostel
"evictions" ever. Shared Route on the up and up and up.

My mouth is pretty much healed. I ate my first sandwich last night
(tuna with curry, like I used to eat when I was young), and my first
granola this morning. I used to look like a chipmunk (picture
attached), but now I look more or less as normal as I ever do. It's
notable that I was not *intentionally* cringing for that picture, nor
did I feel particularly bad when it was taken, but I guess my
expression betrays how I was actually feeling.

I'm feeling a little uninspired, which is okay, I suppose. I'm going
to Israel/Palestine in just a week's time, and I'm feeling all charged
and jumpy and wigged out. Tonight I go to Portland at around 1 am 'cus
that's when a ride is coming through town; given my current state, the
timing seems perfect.

Co-counseling has been going swimmingly, I'm figuring out how to
include my friends in this little adventure, in small and not-so-small
ways. It's a tricky task, let me tell you. To get the people you care
about most to be involved in the way of seeing the world you care
about most.

And I'm going to Israel/Palestine. I'm going to send another update
just about that.

The first few days after I got my wisdom teeth out, I did a really
good job of just *chillin*, watching movies, eating junk food (like
pudding), playing computer games even-- it felt like high school
without the school part. I remarkably was able to stay connected to
people throughout, to ask friends to spend time with me, even if it
was just to watch a movie, really I just wanted to be held. The movies
and computer games were just a standby for when I didn't have a friend
holding me. And in some ways, I still just want to be held, even
though my teeth/mouth don't hurt any more.

Day 6 post-op, my gum became lacerated and bled a lot through the
night. I went to the dentist first thing in the morning. I couldn't
identify a particular thing that had traumatized the wound, the main
suspects were a) ibuprofen b) toothbrushing (it was cool to hear my
dentist tell me *not* to brush my teeth) and c) trying to eat solid
food too quickly. I think ibuprofen had a lot to do with it, because
the bleeding started about an hour or two after I took some ibuprofen
before going to bed. It was really scary to be bleeding like that; I
told Eden, who shares my room, that I was bleeding a lot, and asked if
he could take me to the emergency room if I needed. In retrospect,
using a teabag to stop the bleeding might have been more effective
than the cotton gauze that I used, because teabags have tannin in them
that help to stop bleeding.

Yeah, and Shared Route is doing great, we have a new bus that we've
been running since about the second week of January. It's got Israeli
and Palestinian flags on the front of it, which is way cool. I call it
The Wolf because it's got twelve passenger seats in it, and twelve in
Swiss-German is Twolf.

Off to some more sessions.

Love y'all!
